Shauna O'Neill

Which model(s)/size of Taylor bowls  do you enjoy playing with and why? Ace size 1 or 2. The ace model is extremely versatile and I feel confident that it will react well to any surface.

 What country/region/club/team do you play for?

Country – Ireland

Club – Ballybrakes indoor and Limavady Outdoor

When and why did you start playing bowls?

Most of my family members play short mat and I started playing that when I was 6 years old. My dad was the junior coach for our area and he needed me to play to make up numbers. I started outdoor when I was 15 thanks to Mandy Cunningham. I tried indoor on and off for a few years but properly committed and played my first full season in 2018/19 and continued on from there.

Are there any particular stories/incidents you would like to tell us about that relate to your bowling?

The chances are always high of me embarrassing myself when I’m on a bowling green, whether it’s falling into ditches or doing the splits thanks to our lovely UK weather!

 In the bowling world who do you most admire and why?

The person I admire most is my Dad Ryan O’Neill, he has achieved so much in the short mat game but has also put just as much back into it.
