Amy Williams (Wales)

An A to Z of Team Taylor

Amy Williams (Wales)

Born in 1993, Amy started playing bowls at the age of 11 after a friend asked her to start going to a junior session. Her Dad now plays as he got bored watching her compete, so he decided to take up the game himself! Amy is a member of Cynon Valley IBC and was selected to play for the Wales Under 25 Team at the age of 14. Amy has always played with Taylor Bowls and particularly likes her Vector model (without grips), as they have a steady line and she can play anywhere with them. She also loves the Taylor clothing, shoe and bag range as they make her feel smart and comfortable.

Currently Amy is an apprentice in the education department of her local council. Her funniest moment in bowls is when accidentally she spilled lucazade on her whites just before a game and she then had to play with orange all down her front!

In the bowling world she most admires David Gourlay for all he has achieved and done for the sport. Her favourite film is "Anchorman".

Her major bowling achievements are:-

2017 WIBC under 25's Title

2015 WIBC Junior Title

2015 Welsh Singles & Junior Singles Winner (4th year in succession)

2014, 2013, 2012 Welsh Junior Singles Winner

2013 & 2012 British Isles U25's Singles Winner (the first lady to do so!)

2013 & 2012 Welsh Champion of Champions

She was selected to play for the Senior Welsh side at the age of 16 and during this year she played her first live TV match with Taylor bowls on the portable rink at Swansea in the Welsh Ladies Invitational singles. Amy also won the Senior Champion of Champions title in 2011 & 2012 at the Bodelwyddan Castle Warner Resort. In 2012, 2013 and 2014 Amy has played in the World Under 25 Championships, making the semi-finals on 2 occasions at Llanelli and Glasgow.
