Jack Pye (Short Mat Player)

Born in Norfolk in 1996, at the age of 10 Jack started playing outdoor bowls due to a family friend! A year later he got hooked on short mat!

Jack is a member of the English Short Mat Bowling Association and he plays for Norfolk ICC Competition - Inter County Championship.

Bowls

Jack plays with a Taylor Ace size 4 Heavy and says: "Aces are a great all round bowl which suits any short mat or position in the game! My Taylor Ace with the half pipe grip is really comfortable and makes the bowl feel more controllable. Also is making my delivery smoother than ever but maintaining the good bias level I had, getting on really well with them, more control over the bowl and a tighter/easier grip. I really do love them!

Jack has also started playing with an International size 4 for slower short mat carpets!

Bowls Story: When I was 15 I had a knee problem which I had to be in a leg brace for a few weeks, I was so hooked on short mat bowls that my mum had to tell people from my bowls club to not let me play or pick me up to go to bowls! 

Admires:

Jack most admires Alex Marshall as he has amazing talent and is a great sportsman. Alex has also tried short mat on the challenge matches.

Favourites:

Jack's favourite football team is Tottenham Hotspurs.

With regard to Taylor Bowls he says: " I have been given outstanding support from the staff to the products - very reliable!"
